I'd suggest that you start locating and photocopying caresheets for the more common herps that people buy at the shows. Something that we did recently in Richmond was at our iguana table, I invited another local herper who is more into snakes. She brought a huge burmese with her and a smaller snake (maybe a kingsnake?). While she had a crowd gather around her, she'd explain that the burmeme is a poor choice in a pet (grows too large for the average person). On the other hand, the smaller snake would be a good choice.
Also, have a sign up sheet for those people who would be interested in adopting a herp from you and/or fostering one if you lack the room.
Have information on any local herp societies. Its a great way for people to get educated.
Try and take a live animal or two. Nothing draws a crowd better than any type of animal. I had more people come up to me that were afraid of iguanas and thought they were "icky", but after I convinced them to touch the ig, they relaxed. We also handed out stickers that said "I Touched an Iguana". CO Reptile Rescue came up with the idea, we just edited what the stickers said. Even got a TV newsperson to wear one. LOL
You have to just experiment with your table. What works here, might not work there.
Good luck.
