After reading several horror stories about iguabas and Astro-turf, I stopped using Astro-turf as a substrate and instead put in newspaper. Not to mention, newspaper is much easier to clean than Astro-turf!
My two main concerns are:
1) Can the tar on the newspaper poison my iglet?
2) Is this a fire hazard? The heat lamp is above the cage and there's a screen mesh over the top, but after burning an interesting looking hole in the carpet, I'm rather paranoid about fire safety.
