: My iguana is not very active ..............Is this normal?

Activity decreases with age.....even igs in the wild...'bask and zone-out' they stay still at the tops or in trees for what seems like days sometimes moving very little (less prone to be spotted by predators including gun toting ones!)....the younger igs hang out more on the bottom of trees, bushes, and stay on ground more.
In captivity...same deal...younger igs may spaz out a bit more...pacing.. climbing....'kid-stuff' then as they get older ..slow it down ,do 'ig-stuff' only climbing, moving when they "have to". You may want to do some things like letting your ig free roam supervised outside even walking on concrete, grass is good for boy igs...they get to "scratch" and "rub it" you know the waxy exudate of the femoral pores keeps it from building up...(the guys here know what Im talkin about!! lololol) or provide free standing ladders like a jungle gym....or if you have a free standing LOW type tree like a ficus or dwarf citrus ...let him hang out there ...climbing fun!! or fill up your bathtub (as high as HIS shoulders) with warm water (about 86 degrees) and let him swim to his little hearts content...I find it very relaxing (for me!) to watch mine they are such graceful swimmers!..... Excercise for igs IS important...*especially* if your supplementing your igs diet with xtra calcium, or got a female that is gravid....if yours IS older....not to worry ...he's just doin his "IG-THANG!" A word of caution....if your ig is appearing depressed or lethargic...please do not interpret inactivity in that situation to be healthy....I would be concerned and have him checked out by a vet...okie dokie!
