Heelo Jenny!
I'm not very experienced on iguana keeping, but here is a section from Philippe de Vosjoli's "The Green Iguana Manual" on females iggies getting ready to lay eggs. I hope this helps, and tell us how it goes! Note: de Vosjoli isn't as updated on nutrition as the rest of us, so ignore the part about crickets and fuzzy mice.
Q. My female green iguana is looking fat but it hasn't fed since mid November. It's been nearly five weeks since it has eaten. Occasionaly it feeds on insects or fuzzy mice. I love my animal and am afraid it's going to die.
A. I suspect that your female is gravid. If you are truly concered you could take it to a veterinarian to verify this condition. Gravid females typically go off feed for several weeks prior to laying. If you don't have a suitable egg-laying site, it may be retaining eggs. It is also important to provide extra calcium at this point in time. To create a suitable resting site, dump a large amount of freshly dug up garden soil, slightly moist in one corner of your vivarium. A foot deep is about what you will need. Place a box with an opening cut out on top of it. An alternative is to use a tall rectangular plastic trash can on its side three quarters filled with a soil mix. As long as your female appears generally healthy, don't wory. If it appears unusually sluggish or losing too much weight, take it to a veterninarian.
