Sorry for you loss.
I have two iguanas that are 8+ years and I expect them to live at least another 8 years.
In captivity, a healthy iguana should now live about 15-20 years.
Please check your diet. Absolutely no animal protiens. Most iguanas that die of kidney failure between the ages of 6-8, were feed animal protien when they were younger or as part of their daily diet. Also, too much supplementation with vitamins can also be bad. Causing a calcification of the internal organs.
Balance is the key - proper diet, sunlight (or equal.), and space to excersise.
I know that it may be to soon, but have you thought about adopting an iguana? There are many that need caring homes out there.
