: I have 2 iguanas approximately 2 years old both in the same 55 gallon tank. I take them out every day, feed them every day, however one of the iguanas is very posessive, bobs her head up and down constantly intimidating the other one, despite he does nothing to provoke her. When taken out of the tank for her daily excersize, she is very intimdating, both bobbing her head up and down at me (the owner and caretaker) and my friend whipping her tail and has bitten both my friend and I very hard and they were very serious bites, which almost required medical attention. Why is she acting this way when we go out of our way to take care of her and pamper her and give her as much love as possible. She also intimidates my friends iguana while in the tank and bites him too thrashing her head about while seriously injuring her dorsal fins on several occasions.
: Any help you could provide would be most appreciated. Sincerely yours, Mitchell Rakoff
hey mitch first of all that tank is to small for 2 iguanas i had my 1 iguana in a 55 gallon tank and after 1 -2 years it was too small for him so i had to move him into a 4foot x 5 foot high cage . hes 2 years old and 3 feet im surprised that you cant see that that tanks too small iguanas grow to 5-6 feet long you cant keep them in a small tank its imposible . youre gonna need a cage at least 8feet high x 8feet long for 2 large iguanas even if you let them out of their cage or yore gonna have problems thats why they are nasty they are cramped for space what ever possessed you to buy 2 iguanas 1 is enough to handle you should have done your homework before buying 2 iguanas thats all i have to say.
