i've been thru the dreaded shots with iZ ... we had to do it for two 14 day runs, a couple days off in between ... the very worst part was at the end of the 2nd run, he was totally resigned to the fact i was gonna jab a needle into his arm, that he didn't even struggle ... he'd just look at me + kinda sigh ... it just broke my heart ...

ok ~ this is partially FYI to others but also more mom-worrying on my part (*grin*)

antibiotic injections need to be given in an upper body muscle ~ ie: the arm/'bicep' ... this is because antibiotics are hard on the kidneys and will hit them too hard if given in a leg or tail muscle ... with possibly deadly effects ...

and ... more mom-worrying here ... if possible, it's best that you do it as a 2-person procedure ... one to restrain Ea + one to inject him ... either way ... be very careful! wrap him in a big, thick bath towel + *make sure* his head is covered! iZ took a *major* chunk out of my arm when i was attempting to do sub-cuteaneous fluid injections ~ can't blame him one little bit, but be really careful ... i still believe iZ *knows* that i'm only trying to help him feel better, but let's face it, IM injections hurt + it's not easy to just sit still for it! it kinda helped that we'd do it at the same time everyday, he knew to expect it + tried hard not to freak out about it ... but mostly, then he knew when it was gonna happen + didn't freak out *every time* he saw one of us ...

oooooooooooooooh ... i hate giving shots!!!!
