Sorry for the Beavis/Butthead momento.
Anyway, here it goes:
WD are omnvores, eat both veggies and meat (ie crikets n' worms, some canned dog food, meats, etc.)
Veggie wise are the same as igs, but they tend to like more the animal protein stuff.
Cagig and lighting is pratically the same, though i think they require higher humidity, i'm not sure.
also, as their name implies, they like the water, so you know what that leads to... SPLASH!
They are believed to be hardier and more outgoing than igs (but that's debatable :)
Tricia's WD page is the best on WD (think of her as a MK on WD).
NOW, as for the dog..... even though he's accustomed to your repties, your WD is not to him, and will be highly stressed
by lookig at hairy "gigantor". Also, due to the fact that he's sooo small, he may be mistaken for
a squeeshy toy, or puppy chow. Wait 'til he gets old enough to be accustomed to the dog and other repties,
as well as strong enough to drive them away with a smack of the tail.
Iguanas are VERY territorial, and will not jump for joy when a "look-a-like"
drops in the family territory.
Good luck with Boger's mom my friend!
Hope this helps,
Ig. Joe
: Are there any major differences between the care of an Iguana and a Water Dragon?
: Diet, heat, UV all the same?
: (Goofy ol' me is contemplating expanding the family in a few months time -- the baby WD's are sooooooooo cute! )
: Also, if a dog has become accustomed to living with a garter snake, 2 Schneider skinks and an Iguana, would it pose any extra threat to any baby water dragon that silly me might bring home?
: (After all, this is listed as the "Iguana and Water Dragon Forum" in some places -- it's time for somebody to ask a dragon question for a change, tee hee hee)
