In Reply to: Does anyone have info on Spiney Tailed Iguanas?? (more...) posted by Kelly on March 04, 2000 at 00:55:36:

Hi Kelly. I have had a spinytail for a year now and Cecil is a wonderful animal. Here's a few care tips to help you decide. I feed mine the same diet that I feed my greens with some added animal protein(crix and mealworms, superworms, mouse pinks). They don't require the high humidity that the greens do. They do require UVB and heat, with a basking area reaching up to 100 degrees. They are not as easily tamed as green iguanas, remaining quite flighty. I've included a link to a basic care sheet. There are several subspecies and it is difficult even for informed people to identify the species sometimes. I suggest you visit the Ctenosaur/Cyclura forum and ask there also.
The pic is my Cecil.
