iZ positively *HATES* the Amphojel he needs to be on (for his kidney probs) ... while i *can* get it down him, it's maximum stress for both of us and i'm really afraid he's going to aspirate it instead of swallow it cuz he gets so stressed at having to take meds again ... and i really don't care to deal with aspiration pheumonia on top of everything else!! i know Amphojel comes in solid/tablet form but do you think ANYone in town carries it??? no, of course not! *sigh*

so ... i'm calling every place in town and i called a compounding pharmacy + yes they have the substance in solid form but can't just sell it to me cuz even tho it's an over-the-counter antacid, the actual Aluminum Hydroxide that is the substance i want is considered a hazardous household item + needs a prescription ... ARG!

so ... i took a deep breath + said look, i need it for a pet who has renal disease + i can't get Amphojel down him + i need a solid form so i can hide it in his food ... can you help me out??? and i held my breath waiting for him to laugh at me but he didn't! he said to have the vet call in a scrip and that'd be fine!!! he has no prob working with vets/animal patients!! *whew*

well, iZ's *real* doc that did surgery is off on Fridays so i had to call his *other* vet (who's a really great doc but isn't familiar with doses for igs) to see if he'd trust me to tell him what dosage to order ... and he had absolutely no problem with it and said he'd call it in ... *kewl*

maybe it's my "Nursing Asst mentality" but it sure feels really weird for *me* to be telling a doctor what drug i want + what dosage to give!!! heheheh ... (dealing with *both* of iZ's docs has been a neat experience, they really give me credit for my knowledge + experience ... )

now ~ i can hardly wait to see what this little tidbit costs me ... *shaking head + laughing* ... and you guys think us humans are still in charge here??? *ROTFLMAO* i don't think so!

time to feed + bathe his highness now!
