My boyfriend now husband didn't get it either. But he acutally shed tears when we lost Salvador (he shocked me but then I was crying for days). It's just terrible not to have them around when you are used to seeing, hearing, feeding, and loving them for 7 years. It was his idea to get another iguana because I was so distraught I wanted another species-- bearded dragon. Well, now we have both and are happy again. I love my beardie, but there is a real sense of happiness when you get an iguana to trust you!
