I don't especially recommend this procedure for everyone and I would only use it on small igs. What I have done with new small igs or small igs that haven't got over the biting threat is to let them bite my finger, usually my little finger.
For one, it doesn't hurt ( me ). Two, I let them get as much finger as possible. I don't shove it down their throat, but I press in just a little. Three, this game gets old real quick. The finger doesn't taste that great, they are almost gagging on the finger, nothing good is happening to them, I leave my finger there until they spit it out.
I have never been bitten twice. They learn that the finger biting just doesn't work and has unpleasant results.
So far, I think that I have been bitten by every pet and every reptile I have caught, except for the diamond back rattle snake I picked up - but that is another story.
