i've translated it to mean: "i'm big, i'm bad, be impressed, *watch out*!!!!" ... LOL ...

it pretty much means the exact opposite of puppy tail wagging! it doesn't necessarily mean she's annoyed, just that she wants to make sure you know *who* is in charge here! (*grin*)

chances are, your ig was also "posturing" when she was swiching her tail ... "posturing" is when they puff themselves up to look bigger than they are ... full-blown posturing is when they raise up off their belly (so they look taller), dewlap is extended, they kinda 'puff-up' + their body looks wider than it did a second ago, sometimes they'll then lean towards whoever they're trying to impress, + they have an evil look in their eye ... (*grin*) ... being tail-whipped by an ig is *not* a pleasant experience + swishing her tail is a way of telling you to "watch out! i'm armed!" ... posturing should always be taken seriously ... (tho i think it looks funnier than heck!) ... it should be recognized as an aggressive warning that the ig can/will/is totally ready to bite and/or attack ... backing away calmly while talking calmly to her is suggested ... (especially if she's big enough to do any damage to you!)

SO!

welcome to the best ig-forum on the planet!!! this is a fantastic place to ask questions + share info about our 'babies' ... how old/big is your ig?? and what's her name??

here's iZ's favorite links to the best ig info sites around ... great diet info as well as info on enclosures/enviromental needs ...

happy herping!
