Status of I.iguana

Dear friends,

I would like to find out the current status of the common green iguana (I.iguana)
on CITES. What happened was that last week my local Department came and *took away* my 2-foot iguana. I received a letter today saying that "Under the Convntion on international Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Iguanas are endangered species and protected."

Any reponse will be appreciated,
