Trying this again! Just as I was ready to submit my response, which was a work of art I must say lolol... I lost my connection ...>cursing AOL AGAIN!!!<
IZ's Mom...I think periods like this are to be expected. Kidney ailments are not usually reversible but can be maintained right?....I'd follow whatever IZ's vet says to the letter ...I'd also have a consult with the vet to go over diet and supplementation. Are you still using Centrum? Talk to the vet about continued use of it...^Vitamin D in it is what I would be concerned with...the cal/phos/mag ratios have a lot to be desired too imho... I'd also eliminate the purine/protein content in his foods....no legumes!!!...there I go again...lol .There are many plants & herbs that help with kidney related disorders....Shannon Nelson of Varanus was a great help to me going over plant foods for Juana during her bout with elevated uric acid levels (which come to find out were not elevated at all...once I got the normal lab values of the lab used!)Also Iguanamomma helped tremendously by not only confirming what Shannon Nelson told me but provided a link to botanical.com where I was able to get alot more info than Shannon provided on plants and their medicinal uses (link below). One thing I did was to use dandelion vs collards....roots and all! much lower oxalate content(decrease stones), ^ flavonoids, a diuretic and a bunch of other technical things in it...that help the kidneys....I'd also look into Cornsilk,Valerian Root or Echinacea as a supplement to help with kidney filtration, kidney stones. Of course any changes to IZ's diet should be approved by your vet. Anyway....wishing you and IZ....all our best! Keep yer chin up!
Gina (wishing IZ was back to his ole onrey self)
