No offense Ingo...
I just wanted to make my point clear... I know one picture is not enough. Anyway... I never said Bastien was almost dying when I brang him home, I just said he was in a deplorable state... He's first ownwer had him for more than 2 1/2 years according to what he told and I just think that it is not acceptable to have a lizard in this state after more than two years! I understand that a "freshly" wild-caught lizard can look like this but I can't understand how he could still look like this more than two years after being under somebody's cares... :o( I know you've seen worse, I've seen worse too... But I think that saying, "Hey, it's not that bad" doesn't excuse that kind of treatment or the lack of treatment...
There is two types of cruelty and bad treatments, the active and the passive ones. Neither of them should be excused. If you find that your lizard burned himself on those %$*& hot rocks (that's how Bastien got his burns according to his last owner... Sadly, I have no pictures of his belly to show the extension of the burns), you just remove them... You don't just let them there and watch him get burn... You have to get responsable! In animal abuse, all the spotlights are usually turned against the ones who's abusing animals in such a way that it is unbelievable to a normal human being to even understand it, but in the dark, just beside, there is the thousands of others how abuse animals in a more insidious way, just by not offering them all the cares they need to be healthy and happy... I just think it's good to remind them that inadequat treatments are a kind of cruelty.
I'm happy Bastien doesn't look like that poor Iguana... But I still found that he have a sad story...
