Your mother should be proud that you are trying to handle this unfortunate situation like an adult, a responsible adult, that is.
I do not know if Rex can survive such extensive injuries. If he truly cannot, you mustn't feel like you are letting him down because you have to euthanize him. It would be cruel to make him live with painful injuries that cannot properly heal, should that be the case.
Do you have an idea of exactly what happened? The vet will want you to be able to reconstruct the incident as best you can.
Laura has made a very good suggestion regarding the money people are willing to donate. This would take the responsibility off of you to account for the money. It would be a wise choice.
So you understand that most of the people here aren't angry with you personally, let me say that I had absolutely NO idea that an iguana would be so incredibly expensive. I cannot imagine a more expensive pet for a young man to try to take on alone. Unfortunately, that knowledge comes a little late in the game for both of us.
Our thought and prayers are with you and Rex, Chris. Please keep us posted.
