Chris I am so sorry too. At 15 you don't think you may be facing something this horrible and expensive in owning a pet. And I applaud you for coming here in the first place.
First I must vent......
Would your mother 'waste' her money on the dog?
On her child? Sometimes parents like that make their children turn out the opposite, and obviously that is you! I must admit my mother would be the same, (so fortunately we had no pets growing up)and myself and my brothers were so horrified by her selfishness that we too became the opposite.
This would be a VERY expensive operation, and I would check to ensure there are no internal injuries as well first. Poor Rex has been through too much.
Please follow iZ's mom's advice and contact a humane society or something.
I am willing to contribute $ to his care.
But you must be quick - he cannot be allowed to suffer like this.
It is encouraging that he is eating a bit, he must be a strong fellow.
Contact me via email today and let me know the results of calling the humane society, and a herp vet re: other injuires and cost of operation.
Do you know of an experienced herp vet? Try to brace youself Chris in case it turns out that euthanasia is the best for Rex. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
My telephone # is (250) 642-3077, and if you need to phone, you can do so collect. I am in BC, Canada and I'm not sure if you need to dial a country code or not. I guess the operator would tell you.
Anybody else????
