I have the same problem...I have a ten-year-old male,
almost 5 feet long, who has gone from 9 pounds down
to 6 pounds over the last two months...he has lost
his appetite and I don't know why...here's his setup:
He's outdoors(I live in Puerto Rico, where there are wild iggies
all over da place)in an 8 x 6 x 8 foot cage, with branches and
shelves for climbing and resting; he has shade areas and sunny areas;
I feed him a mix of hibiscus leaves/ flowers, carrots, different kinds of
squash, pumpkin, watercress, and rabbit pellets now and then mixed in.
I recently put a four-foot female in with him that I rescued from a
pet shop; I wormed them both with Panacur about two weeks ago(1.5mls
per kg of body weight, of a 10% suspension)...the female eats like a pig, and my male
more or less nibbles, but still doesn't seem very enthusiastic about eating at all, and is getting
quite thin...hip bones are really sticking out and the fatty dorsal crest ridge is slowly disappearing...
Any ideas? BTW, he gets along fine with the female...no fights or amting attempts(it's not mating
season yet, which is late November thru February down here...)
Please reply to my e-mail address(mverduin@prtc.net)...thanks!
