first of all, gotta ask:
1.why would you buy a juvenile iguana, if then you are freaked out by it when it's untame?
2.have you visited any iguana sites, read any books, before getting one?
3.when you purchased it, did you had any idea what commitment you got into?
i'm not being a critic here, but you dont buy an ig just because it's green and cute. if you cant tame a young one, imagine what you'll do when it's big and about to smack you with the tail!
the advice you were given is very good, but here's another small tip:
leave a t-shirt of yours in the cage (it is properly sized and heated...right?)so that he'll "smell" you all day. when you go and pick him up, he'll 'recognize' you by the smell, not just visually. offer a treat while you hold it, and be smooth, calm, slow, and sweet to it.
>if you havent done any, PLEASE do some research on caring for igs. whenever you buy a wild animal, you must know that is logical for it to be aggressive toward you, and that you may lose a drop of blood or two.
good luck with your ig, and tell us how you two are doing, ok?
Ciao!
:-)
: Can anyone give me some tips on how to get over me being afraid of my 12-13wk old iguana and how to tame him the right way?
: Ross
: P.S.-i am a first time green iguana owner or reptile for that matter
