Mostly you just need to handle her every day, and don't put her down until after she's calmed down. If you're especially worried about being bitten and/or scratched you could wear a pair of light gloves until she gets accostomed to the handling.
Once she get's used to it, it'll become a non-issue for both of you. Sneakers, our 10 month old girl (named because she's deceptively sneaky), spent about two hours on my shoulder yesterday while I was doing things around the house, just as happy as can be.
