Biting also does the animal little good. It can result in mouth injuries and lost teeth (in you!). Further down the page, I described a bite I recieved from a rescued Ig. Briefly, it lost four (I had thought 3, but there was another stuck in the bone) teeth in my knuckle, causing a two-week long infection until I finaly dug the last of them out. The animal, quite unhealthy to start with, caused me no little worry. Lost teeth, even though they are naturally replaced, are often the beginning of infections and even canker mouth in captive animals, and then you've got a real mess on your hands. Needless to say, I was checking Missy's snapper daily.
In short, while your little Ig's bite might not amount to much, don't give him the chance to do it. As Joan said, tame him so that he doesn't want to bite.

: Whatever xta has, I guess you can catch it. Anyway, be sure and scrub your hands well where the ig bit you. If it breaks the skin, use antibotic cream or something like procide (sp?).
