The local Humane Society sponsored a show here in Richmond for the first time and the turn out was great!(about double what they thought they'd have show up)
We set-up our table with tons of informational sheets, a photo book, candy, donation jar,UVB light information,a hot rock with a sign saying DO NOT USE and why, etc....
There were 6 of us that showed up for the event with 4 iguanas and 2 snakes. We handed out stickers that said " I touched an iguana" to anyone who touched one of the iguana's at the show.
I took photos and will try to get them developed as soon as possible. Sue did a great job getting so much of the stuff ready with such short notice of the event. If I were to guess on the amount of viewers at our table, I would have to say between 200 to 300 people.
Our local news station Channel 12, came over and took a shot of "Jack" and when we got home at 5:00 pm it was on the news!
The sponsors of the event thanked us and asked us to be a part of the next years event.
If I can find the clip online from the news station, I will post a link.
I would like to thank Bonnie and Rich, for helping and bringing their snakes. The large python drew alot of attention from many people. I would also like to thank Cindy and Tom for driving up from Virginia beach during a storm watch and helping at the booth. With them, came their iguanas Sammy and Felix. We couldn't of pulled it all off without these 4 people's help! Thank you Bonnie,Rich,Cindy and Tom.
