trimming nails: if they're scratching you, it's time~ one thing that works well for me + iZ ('specially when he was smaller), is to use an emory board + just file the sharp points off the nails ...

another thing that may help in in the future with nail trimming ~ whenever you're holding Ziggy for a while, kinda 'play with' his toes ... this gets him used to you touching his toes and he'll learn it doesn't hurt, that it's just a weird humon thing ... *grin*

Ziggy freaking out on you when you first pick him up *should* end ... sooner or later ... it's just gonna take a while for him to learn he can trust you ... one of those "have patience" things ... be careful not to accidently sneak up on him, start talking softly to him while you're still across the room from him, move slow, keep talking, don't LOOM over him, etc, etc ... (grin) ... yes, i'd think a big enough ig could very well take a finger off ... at the very least tho, can bite hard enough to hit bone (which really HURTS) + leave youe needing stitches ... so it is very important to help him learn to trust you now, while he's still too small to do major damage to you ...

baths ... not really a 'bath' but just a nice little soak in the water is all ... some igs (like iZ) are scared of the water at 1st and that'll be a whole 'nother thing to help them learn about ... try starting with *very little* water in the tub to see how Ziggy feels about it ... (iZ did NOT like to float when he was younger/smaller) ... a daily soak is great ... better than just misting ...

ideas to help him get used to you??? try to do the same things at the same time everyday so Ziggy can figure out what to expect ... iZ is quietest after supper + so that's when him + i spend time together ... afternoons are when he's wound up and so i let him be then ... it's better if it's fairly quiet + calm in the room ... and then we have 'snuggle time' ... usually 'new' igs will feel more comfortable if they are "up" + will feel safer sitting on your shoulder (or head!) than they will sitting on your lap ... talk softly, give some head rubs, play with his toes, figure out what he likes, etc ... try not to let him go when he's freaking out cuz he'll learn that's all he has to do to get rid of you ... try + get him calm + *then* let him go on his way ... if he's having a hard time calming down, don't push it ... there's still nights where iZ just does NOT wanna hang out with me + ya just have to not take it too personally ... tomorrow night, he may be thrilled to snuggle for 45 min ...

well speaking of baths ... time to go get iZ's supper + bath ready ...

sounds like you're doin' pretty good so far!!!! hang in there!!!

iZ + mom
