We have a bedroom soley for the iguanas. HOWEVER, all are caged separately. The 2 females and the smaller male get along fine when they are roaming around the house. The larger female and aggressive male get along fine (when loose). The aggressive male hates everyone (igs + people) with the exception of the larger female.
Its a game of chance. Some get along fine, and some do not. Never ever put 2 males (sexuality mature) together.
If you get more than one iguana, you have to be prepared to house them separately. They can do some serious damage to each other.
My advise to you about the "other" iguana, I'd go get him and foster him for awhile. Get the word out he needs a home. It appears that you are going to great lengths to learn what you can about these creatures (and that's a good thing). Take the other one in and place him with a good home (down the line).
Good luck with your decision, but I think I already know what it is! ;o)
