ditto to everything said so far ... there's lots of different bobs + they mean different things for different igs ... your ig is trying to teach you to understand it's language, so pay attention! *grin* seems your ig feels you are ready to be properly trained! LOL

one slight clue to help figure if it's agressive/warning or a greeting is the dewlap ... if the dewlap is extended, it's prob'ly *not* a friendly "hello-bob" ... (have you seen a "shudder-bob" yet??? they're funny!)

along with head-bobs is "posturing" ... (it also cracks me up!) ... it's when they 'puff' up + suddenly look twice their normal size + then glare at you ... it is most definately a *WARNING*, approach with extreme *caution*!!!! (or not at all!!!)
