Most Green Iguanas in the US are imported as neonates from South America. Even with a huge mortality rate, there are so many of them that there is no profit in domestic breeding programs and no one in their right minds is doing it.
Indeed, these animale are a drug on the market. Go to any reptile show and you will see them for sale for around four to six dollars, take your pick and few takers. I have a friend who owns a pet shop. He will only get in an Ig for a special order and tries to talk the customer out of it, first.
What it boils down to is that except to the importer, there in small money in Igs and the White Plauge is unlikely to affect the species just on commercial grounds.
There is also the question of whether an animal that requires as much UV as an Iguana could survive at all as an albino under the best of circumstances.
