Thank you for your concern and suggestions. I placed him in the tub with 3 inches of warm water and within 10 minutes the problem was gone! I'll make sure he has water available at all times from now on! He normally defacates every 2-3 days. Again, thank you! : how often did he usually 'go' before he got constipated??? 2 weeks is an *awfully* long time to not go + *I* would be getting extremely worried about now ...

: yes, it's very possible he's getting dehydrated ... igs do get alot of the moisture they need from their food, but it is still a good idea to always have fresh drinking water available for them too ...

: so what to do now??? warm tub soaks will usually encourage them to poop ... careful not too warm, luke warm to you will feel plenty warm for your ig ... if that doesn't help, would suggest some plain mineral oil with an oral syringe ... (iZ actually likes the stuff) ... will help 'slide' things out ... i dosed iZ 1cc per kilo, twice a day when he was really stuck ... (one cc of mineral oil for every kilo that the ig weighs ... divide weight in pounds by 2.2 to get approx. kilo weight) ... be *very* careful giving mineral oil!!! if they aspirate it, it would be *extremely* bad ...

: or ... good ol' Milk of Magnesia might help too ... dose same as mineral oil ... but the mineral oil might help more cuz it'll lubricate the colon and help any 'stuck' fecal matter slide out ...

: i would also strongly suggest considering a trip to the vet's for x-rays to make sure your ig is not obstructed in some way ... again, 2 weeks is a *VERY* long time to not go + it is possibly causing other problems from it's body retaining the wastes as long as it has ...

: giving some Pedialyte 2-3 times a day (again with an oral syringe) would also be a good idea ...

: best wishes! let us know how you're doin' ok?
