Question about Xrays

Hi folks, I recently had xrays done on Spazzy as a routine check up, something showed up in her stomach and I was told it was probably food, I have been thinking about this and being an over protective nervous mom wanted to ask this question....does food show up on xrays? or could it have been something else? she climbed into my cats litter box one day and "licked" a couple times before I could get her out, I was just wondering if it could have been litter in her belly.
