How do I potty-train???

: I have a 9month old Green. She sleeps in her cage at night and has free run of the house during the day. When I get her out in the morning I immidiatly give her a bath, and she "poops" in there. But, sometimes she doesn't go - which leads to me going back later and having to clean up her "poop" (which some times I find in places I really don't want it to be in). I had a friend of mine and he had a Green 3yo that would use a litter pan with paper in it like a cat does (when he had to go he went to the litter pan. Did he get lucky or is this a "trainable" thing to do?? How do I get her to start going in the pan and her to go to the pan on her own??
