so it MUST be good for herps.... right ? Of course, the packaging on hot rocks says that they are perfect for reptile use too.....
Truth be told, Ms. Servant, I've heard of NUMEROUS instances where calci-sand, as well as many other substrates touted as being safe and even "good" for herps, have caused impactions so severe that the animal died as a result.
On a personal note, and I'll be careful to clearly state that this is my PERSONAL OPINION so as not to be confused with any research that has been performed, I've found that much of the product on the reptile market today is nothing but "snake oil" - no pun intended although heavily pondered. If one were to extend even 5 minutes of "common sense" reasoning when examining suppliments, sprays, substrates, etc. it may be easier to discern valuable "tools of the trade" from useless hype and complete cr*p. For those times when one is STILL not 100% sure one should feel free to ask questions of other, possibly more experienced individuals, and be receptive to their input - especially since you are asking for it.
Just me throwing my loose change around again...
