Glenda...I think produce stores just spray water nothing else so their produce doesn't dry out....used to be and I think its all changed everywhere now...but read somewhere that copper *used to be* used as an additive/preservative to keep produce lasting longer but that no longer is practiced. Was thinking about this when Wes posted the article about Copper & Arthritis below...lolol ...The waxy coating on cucs & apples is done at the company not at the stores Ive asked the produce guy about this one! Its so gross...but its a preservative that needs to be washed off. Like Anne said...GROW YOUR OWN!! then ya know it hasn't been messed with once it hits your plate...or ig dish! Now if I can only find out what happened to my green thumb!
