This is my first post to this forum, I hope it goes ok. I have been reading the forum for quite some time but wasn't sure on how to go about introducing myself...so I'll make it simple. My name is Jackie, you can call me Dishy, short for my Internet name, DishpanHands. Anyway, I just want to say that during the summer I visited a local pet store and was appalled by the conditions under which they were keeping 2 adult iguanas. The staff really didn't care or bother to see that there was a problem, they just gave all kinds of excuses to justify this horrible situation. Knowing I cannot change the world nor widespread animal abuse, I still could not in good conscience just let this go. So in trying to determine who to report this to, I was ultimately led to the local SPCA. I made the complaint, and tried repeatedly to get in touch with the "inspectors" for a report on their findings and intentions of rectifying the situation, to no avail. I finally gave up, though I know I shouldn't have, but I felt so helpless when even the SPCA didn't seem to care. Needless to say, I have since boycotted the store so I don't know what if anything became of the poor igs. So, I guess the bottom line is that I'm recommending you check with your local SPCA and even if that is not the appropriate agency for your area, they'd likely be able to let you know who is. Good luck! It really is a sickening situation out there, to say the very least.
