Maybe I missed something here, but why would a vet want to do a routine spay if your Ig hasn't exhibited any egg laying problems?
I would think an Ig with a good diet, proper UVB, appropriate laying box and lots of exercise while gravid shouldn't pose as much risk of egg binding. Although some just might have problems regardless of setups food ect.
I wouldn't risk surgery unless it's necessary. Prices would vary depending on the herp vet. But it's around 300.00-500.00 Canadian, depending on how well surgery goes ect, and if they need post op care at the vets.
My female is 11 years old and so far hasn't had egg binding problems. That's not to say that some day she could though. But so far so good, I know that she's very restless and needs and gets loads of exercise when she's gravid. I think exercise is very important for gravid Ig's..
