H.D.,
I saw your previous post about the map, but the image was invalid and the url didn't work either. Pepe (The Little Beastie), has I think officially hit puberty. The femoral pores are now putting out whitish secretions, and the subtympanic scales are beginning to bulge out noticeably. However, he doesn't quite match your descriptions. If anything, he's an intergrade of two localities. His head is kind of longish from anterior to posterior and he does have two pronounced horns on his snout. His dorsal crest is very high initially. He's about 9 inches SVL and the first 8 or so of the spines are about an inch long, so proportionally, for his SVL, the crest looks pretty impressive. As for color, he's still a brilliant green with blue tint to much of his head and along the bars on his sides. The blue on his sides is faint, but more cobalt color, while the blue on his head and neck tends more towards turquoise. His tail is another story (incidentally, it's complete in length). The bands on the tail are light brown with green inbetween until the last two thirds where the inbetween color turns to orange. There's also a fair amount of orange tint in his spines and individual scales on his dewlap are orange. I wonder if he's getting some breeding coloration already, or if he's one of these males that naturally has a lot of orange. I estimate his age at roughly 2 1/2 years or possibly 2 2/3 years. He was a juvenile when I purchased him, roughly 4 inches SVL. Total length of about 2 1/2 feet long. It'd be interesting if you could get some photos of igs from the various localities. I'm going to look into doing some research on what the igs look like that come from various areas. If importers like Glades Herp can tell me what there's mature into, as well as contacting some zoos, I may be able to better help you pin down whether these are locality specific traits or simple individual variation. Pepe, being a case in point - exhibiting traits of more than one locality. I find this very intriguing. I'll post a pic of Pepe after the first of the year. Happy New Year.
Cheers, Matt Campbell
