Sorry to hear about your Ig, but I'll tell you I saw an Ig at the vets about a month or so ago. It was an adult Ig. It had no digits left, except for one full digit on it's right back foot. All digits were gone from the whole foot, only had the full palm of it's foot to use.
It was sad to see. I have know idea what happened to the toes and the owner didn't either. They took it in this way and she said it was born this way. But I said no, something happened along the way for it's toes to be all gone. I did an assumption that parhaps someone cut them all off. But after hearing your story I'm sure hoping that
this wasn't the case. I guess the purpose of this post is to say that if you get a grip on that infection, I'm sure your Ig can still have a fairly normal life, but as you said his climbing abilities will be taken away from him so a handicap
he may have, but it's sounds like your going to give him a really nice life if he pulls thorugh for you. Bless you. You a good person, I hope your Ig gets better real soon.
