In Reply to: What is a 'normal' blood workup for an ig? What are the normal margins for those tests? posted by Thumper on December 28, 1999 at 22:49:53:
Thumper...I'd go with a complete reptile panel this first time. Costs about $90-150 but well worth it to establish a baseline. Costs alot because iguana's are exotic pets remember!lolol Makes no sense whatsoever to me to charge that much for clipping a toenail and getting a few drops of blood!! but were at their mercy! Call around for prices..... As was mentioned vets use different labs so normal values will vary from one lab to the next. What's listed as normal values say in Maders Reptile Meidcine & Surgery won't make much sense to an independant lab doing the analysis. So when he gets his bloodwork make sure you get a hard copy with *their* labs normal values so you can compare. Keep it filed somewhere for easy access unlike mine...(around here somewhere!). Its been recommended that Igs get complete bloodwork done annually and fecal analysis done every 6 months. For what its worth.
