We do wait to insure that the plants are chemical free, probably not as long as you recommend, Sue. We wash the whole plant, and repot immediately. We then wait 6 weeks to two months. Any longer, and we don't have any hibiscus unless we take them inside, where they don't do well.... So far, no problems.
