The last adventure was in me leaving Sneakers in the livingroom with the kids giving them instructions not to let Sneakers near the tree. I went into the bedroom for a minute and it sounded like World War III had broken out in the livingroom. Sneakers had jumped to the floor and made a dash for the tree. The kids remembering my instructions, for once, formed a line around the tree, then moved forward towards Sneakers. Sneakers now fearing he was being attacked ran in the opposite direction with the kids in hot pursuit. Down the hall this precession came. Sneakers then decided to quickly turn and enter my son bedroom, which can acturately be described as resembling a landfill. This is where I re-enter the picture just in time to see Sneakers go across the room, climb the TV, jump to the dresser, up and over the turtle cage, and dive behind the dresser. Oh great, I'm sure thats where my son threw his garbage last year.

Telling everyone to FREEZE where they were, I went over and viewed the situation. Yes, putting my face on the wall and peering behind the dresser, I could just see that Sneakers had positioned himself in the middle of the dresser a top of a couple pop cans. This wasn't going to be easy, but at least no step ladder was involved. I reached in as far as I could go while talking to him and could feel Sneakers. Just didn't know what I was touching. Thwap, thwap, thwap. Ok I guess its the tail. Haven't felt that in a while.

Retreating I told everyone to leave the room and we would let Sneakers calm down and I would get him later. In about 10 minutes I went back into the bedroom BY MYSELF. Reached behind the dresser again. This time Sneakers let me wiggle my fingers underneath his chest and remove him gently. The rest of the evening he spent riding around on my shoulder. If any child came anywhere near him, he would quickly scramble to the top of my head. By the end of the evening I had a hairdo that was the envy of any mad scientist.

Joan (don't encourage me)
