Dear Gina,
I would call the veterinarian who did the surgery. The ampogel will not darken the stool. What you are seeing is meleana, digested blood in the stool. This come out as being dark in color.
This may be related to the insion site bleeding, as do the sutures passed.
I suggest this reptile be rechecked ASAP.
