Ha! And there are people in my house who think I squirrel away too much info on the computer! Anyway, I just happen to have stuff saved off re this medicine so I'm going to post it here for you.

In some states NeoCalglucon (which is the brand name; the chemical name is
calcium glubionate; made by Sandoz) is available by prescription only. In
others, it is available over the counter. Most pharmacies don't stock it
routinely, so the pharmacy will have to order it for you.

While it can be used as a daily/regular supplement, it *is* expensive. It
is generally used for igs with MBD or who are having problems laying their
eggs due to gravidity-induced MBD.

Some vets here recommend it as the regular calcium supplement, though most
recommend/prescribe it for mild MBD to temporarily boost the dietary calcium
and usual calcium supplement. For mild to moderate MBD, the recommended dose is 1cc/kg bid. For hypocalcemic gravid igs, it is given 5x
day. It's also used in advanced MBD in conjunction with the necessary D
and/or calcium
injections.

And it doesn't taste half bad, either! ;)
