Thank you all for the good advice! Right after the last follow-up I posted, I gave him a bath in the middle of night (when he was 1/2 asleep) and tried to give him some prunes (never got past the first taste!)But the next day it worked and has been o.k. since. Thanks for the info about the mineral oil also, I didn't want to try anything like that unless I knew what kind for sure.
