aluminium hydroxide reduces the phosphorus levels ... (if i'm remembering correctly it reduces the stress on kidneys by binding the phos. in the gut and allowing it to pass right on thru ....?) ... iZ's level was quite high (9.6 mg/dl ~ lab norms are 5-8 mg/dl) ~ (his calcium:phos. ratio was 1:1.3)
interestingly, we also use Amphojel for the same reason (renal impairment) for the kids in ICU ...
