It is extremely difficult to differentiate the males from the females before they reach adulthood (sexual maturity
is reached towards 2 years of age). Indeed, with the age, the males develop more imposing nuchal and dorsal
crests than the one of the females. Moreover, their head is broader and their femoral pores are more developed
(and usually a few femoral pore secretions could be seen). Also, males develop with maturity a "bulge" just
behind their cloac. This is their hemipenes, wich of course, females don't have... They also have larger scale
(the subtympanic plate) beneath the tympanum.
