: he had major surgery monday ~ 2 hours!!! they opened his stomach, his cecum, his bladder + biopsied a kidney ... waiting for the biopsy results, holding my breath, hoping his kidneys were just inflamed and not diseased ...

: he got to come home tuesday nite + is in his own little Intensive Care Unit here ... yep, i took the week off work to take care of him!

: had to redo his room cuz he's not s'posed to climb, so now he has a nice wide ramp from his favorite shelf to his second favorite shelf ... put his water bubbler up on his shelf so he doesn't have to move around so much ... replaced his wood shelf with one made out of plastic mesh stretched across a wooden frame, covered in green fabric ... seems to be easier on his tummy since the mesh/fabric gives + it's alot wider than the old one ... moving is hard for him and hard ON him ...

: i soak him in the tub mulitple times a day to try and keep his bladder fairly empty ... giving him 100cc plus infalyte daily, an Ensure-like product for calories, baby vitamins, Amphojel (for his kidneys) and have to give him a shot of Baytril every day (upper arm muscle) ... IM injections are actually ALOT easier than when i had to give him sub-Q fluids cuz it's only 1cc and it's over quick ...

: he's not feeling too good right now and he looks like hell ... well, he's been THRU hell, so i guess that's only natural ... his tail + legs are sunken in cuz he's lost so much weight this last month ...

: have always thought that he understands when i'm trying to take care of him, doing things he doesn't like to help him feel better ... he really doesn't like me squirting so much in his mouth, so many times a day, but for the most part, he cooperates ... and part of it is, i think he just doesn't have the energy to fight me ... i know he's in pain from the massive surgery ... i try not to bug him more than necessary so he can relax + rest ... would dearly love to spend all day holding him in my arms + telling him how much i love him ... but he really wants to just be alone ...

: i'm terrified of losing him ... the vet is not very optmistic ... he had soooo much going on inside that little body ... it's gonna take another miracle for him to get thru this + get healthy again ...

: for all of you who don't have an IG-vet, GET ONE NOW!!! at least some of this could have been prevented if i'd had the knowledgeable vet i have now, 3 weeks earlier ... it's almost impossible to not beat myself up continuously ... DON'T JUST ASK if they're an ig-vet ... find one who has done NUMEROUS, SUCESSFUL SURGERIES on igs ... then you'll KNOW that THEY KNOW their stuff ...
