Since your original post asked specifically for a vet or someone with personal experience I couldn't post...but I just wanted to comment on:
>>>> In the meantime I suggest that everyone be aware of what they are giving their iguanas and how much ... cause if it can happen to Napoleon it could happen to your iguana too! :(<<<<
Its peculiar to me that anyone would want to supplement a healthy adult iguana's diet with
daily vitamins & minerals on a long term basis....given the current dogma on iguana care.
Toxicology reports can be WRONG false positives are common. Any reputable vet will do a repeat in 4-6 weeks before any therapuetic intervention. Zinc overload is very uncommon....a high fiber diet and phytates (legumes specifically) bind zinc. Iron overload via oral supplementation is becoming more common. I do not advocate the use of daily vit/min for healthy adult igs, nor do I advocate Centrum (just on the Vitamin D3 & other harmful additives..trace lead, vit A and other fat storing vits/mins concentrations). Don't worry Melissa is fully aware of how I feel about some of her THEORIES. I'd suggest if your vet is 100% sure of this dx. that he do a liver functioning & heart muscle tests...he'll know which ones...to determine if there is any damage...which usually occurs with this dx.
Just wanna wish you & especially Nap the best...We don't get any(?) vets posting on this forum...just this barefoot wanna-be ;-)
