Dear John,

Your idea is a good start and not to put your idea down but 3 days is not nearly enough time to get a good feel to what you'll be getting into. When I suggested getting a foster iguana, I was looking at you caring for it for at least a month or two.....even up to 6 months. Sometimes, NOT always, but sometimes people will lose interest with having an iguana after tending to it everyday. The next thing that happens is, they get rid of the iguana. Have you thought about the cost of caring for a iguana ( medical bills). Also is there a Qualified Vet in your area? And when I say qualified....I don't mean someone who says they do reptiles! Many Vets say they work on reptiles but know very little about them, don't always trust what a Vet says. Do some research on the Vet you maybe interested in going to. Ask him/her how many iguanas a week he sees as patients. Another question to ask is if he's a member of the Vet group online. Our Vet is, and what he doesn't know...(which he's straight forward with us on) he gets online and talks with some of the top Vets in the country to find out answers for us. Right now, we're dealing with satan's spawn...my male iguana is the rebirth of the devil and we've been trying different meds on him to mellow him out some. I just got a call from him last night at home about trying a different med with him.
We don't ALWAYS agree with our Vet, but we do trust him, he's very knowledgeable about iguanas and sees around 15 to 20 a week in his office.
Try your idea but also see if you can find a rescue group. They would really enjoy having someone want to foster an iguana for them and maybe even adopt one. If you need help finding one in your area please let me know, I'll see what I can do.
