The hot water bottle is one trick. Also, when they were forecasting a hurricare early this year in our area (fear of losing power), I went to a fishing/hunting business and purchased a bunch of those heat packs that hunters use to keep their hand/feet/whatevers warm. About $1 per pack. They can get really hot so I'd test one first and wrap in a towel or two.
I agree that I would do my best to keep them in the cab of the truck with you, unless warm weather is predicted while you're moving. The back of a truck can really cold.
