We have all of our lizards enclosures on timers. These are the ones you can buy from Home depot or someother place. They have 4 on-off stops ( green-on, red-off) that trip the on-on switch. You can pick the times AM and PM that you want stuff on and off. I also have plugged in power strips to these timers so that an assortment of lights, heaters etc all come on and go off at the required times. You may also want to consider an in-line ( 120v) thermostat. They cost around $19.00 or less. I have connected up heat lamps and ceramic heaters to these and it works great as far a keep an temps at required levels. I place the themostat and the heaters such that there is a thermogradiant vertically and horizontally. So far , so good. I also like the fact that I can adjust the thermostat to what ever is best. good luck.
