Since none of the Forum's regulars have answered you
post yet, I'll give it a try.
I only have one iguana, 6-year-old Q, so my experience
is limited. But, Q has never taken to any sort of
"toy." He much prefers places to things. Rather than
giving him things to "play" with, I try to give him
interesting places to go.
Q has the hugest, most awesome basking wood I could
find for his enclosure. He also has several "window
seats" around my home (and varying methods of climbing
to them) where he can go to bask or check out the
neighborhood. Oh, and Q loves going up and down the
carpeted stairs.
Like my cats, Q spends a lot of time doing nothing, then
suddenly decided he wants OUT NOW and rearranges his
enclosure until he is freed. Other than that, he
seldom seems bored. (Quite the contrary, sometime he
finds life far too exciting -- his nightly bath, for
example, is something he'd gladly forgo if I let him.
About igs and birds, I've heard of many people who have
both without problems. But every situation is unique,
so the best course of action would be extremely cautious
experimentation. My cats and iguana pay virtually no
attention to one another, but I still take lots of
precautions in case someone suddenly changes his/her
mind about inter-species tolerance.
